Andrew Stroud tested our Uni-go trailer

You may remember in issue 33, in November 1998, we featured an enterprising Christchurch motorcyclist who had designed a bike trailer.

His name, Chris van Eekelen. The good news is that he’s still in business with his Uni-go trailers, and somehow he persuaded Andrew Stroud to road test it during the recent Ulyssis AGM in Christchurch.

Our South Island Manager, Bernadette Smith, caught up with Andrew after his ride.

Q What is your opinion of the Uni-go?
A Very impressed. Great asset to have, would recommend for camping, touring etc. It didn’t do anything I didn’t expect, and I could still do a wheelie.

Q How did it effect the bike while you were riding?
A No bother at speed. It felt quite normal. If I had it on the back at Ruapuna I’d knock off lap times.

Q Did it behave in a predictable manner?
A Very. I took my hands off the bars at one stage, with no ill effects.

Q What about cornering?
A It tracks well. You really can’t tell it’s attached to the back of the bike.

Q Any problem with braking?
A No, braking was fine.
